The publication notes that tens of thousands of Crimeans cannot obtain Russian citizenship, for example, due to lack of registration, and 70 thousand people are deprived of Russian passports, allegedly issued erroneously.
“Immediately after the referendum in March 2014, the central government gave instructions to recognize as citizens of the Russian Federation everyone who lived on the peninsula on the date of its holding. However, local officials preferred to be guided by their own considerations and grant citizenship not to everyone, but selectively,” the publication writes.
Oleg Olenev, who applied to the Constitutional Court, has a court decision in class confirming the fact of permanent residence in Sevastopol, but they refuse to recognize him as a citizen of Russia due to the absence of a registration stamp in his Ukrainian passport.
“In fact, after the entry of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol into Russia, for reasons beyond my control, I became a stateless person (stateless person), deprived of a source of livelihood, which, in accordance with international law and Russian legislation, is unacceptable,” Olenev said in a statement .
