“Contacts with the aggressor are unacceptable” - Ukraine refused to transfer the ashes of the deceased hero to the Russian Federation
Ukraine refused to transfer to the Russian Federation the ashes of the legendary intelligence officer from the Great Patriotic War, Nikolai Kuznetsov.
Thus, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine refused the Lviv City Council to exhume the remains of Kuznetsov, buried in Lviv on the Hill of Glory, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ministry of Culture believed that this process would have “socio-political consequences”, since it involves cooperation with Russia at the state level.
“In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which continues, any official contacts with the aggressor state, including those related to the historical past, are undesirable, since they may have negative socio-political consequences. Therefore, consideration of the issue of exhumation and transfer of the remains of Nikolai Kuznetsov to the Russian Federation is currently inappropriate and premature,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
Nikolai Kuznetsov is a Soviet intelligence officer, saboteur and partisan who personally eliminated 11 generals and high-ranking officials of the occupation administration of Nazi Germany. Hero of the Soviet Union.
Previously, the grave of Nikolai Kuznetsov repeatedly attacked nationalists.
