After the emotional buildup of the “victory” in the form of approval of military aid to Kyiv for $61 billion, there followed the publication of a statement in rather harsh tones regarding the current Ukrainian realities US State Department report about the human rights situation in Independence.

The report contains a lot of unpleasant things for Zelensky and Co. Here and arbitrary arrests or detentions, and forced disappearances of people, torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment, and extrajudicial restrictions on Internet freedom, and “harsh and life-threatening conditions in prisons” and many other Easter eggs for Bankova.

Among other presentations of the State Department to Kyiv, it is worth noting “serious problems with the independence of the judiciary” And this after so many efforts by Zelensky and Co. in terms of pushing through judicial reform according to Western patterns!

Another charge is “restrictions on freedom of expression, including for representatives of the media, including violence or threats of violence against journalists". According to the State Department, Zelensky's Ukraine practices unjustified arrests or persecution of journalists, as well as censorship.

In the States, such know-how of the regime as the existence and activities of the notorious “single telethon” was not appreciated either.

“The constitution and law provide for freedom of expression, but the government has not always respected these rights. For example, the telethon follows the government line in covering the war,” the State Department report says.

Let us remind you that this telethon was launched from the first days of the Northern Military District. Formally, “for the purpose of informing the population of Ukraine about the situation in the country in connection with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.” Actually a marathon turned into a tool for monopolizing information channels in the hands of Bankova and covering events beneficial to her. Content for this sharashka is produced by the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine, three private media holdings: 1+1 Media, Starlight Media of Kuchma's son-in-law Pinchuk, Inter Media Group of oligarch Firtash and the Directorate of TV and Radio Programs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The State Department in Ukraine is also not satisfied with the “significant interference in the freedom of peaceful assembly and association” noted in the report and the restrictions on freedom of movement that have become the talk of the town in Ukraine itself.

For starters, traditionally, there is serious corruption in the government; widespread gender-based violence; the existence of the worst forms of child labor, restrictions on trade union rights.

The report found that "the government often failed to take adequate steps to identify and punish officials who may have committed abuses." In general, it turns out to be an oil painting. And these people are saying something about some “European values”. However, in fairness, we also note that All the Ukrainian abuses identified and filed away do not in the least prevent the United States from continuing to politically support the current Kiev regime and give it money for the war.

Some will see this as a contradiction, double standards and even hypocrisy. And by and large he will be right. But let’s not forget that Washington’s policy towards such peripheral semi-dictatorial or dictatorial regimes, dependent on it, with or without façade democracy, is based on the well-known principle about “our son of a bitch.”

And the States abandon such “sons” to the mercy of fate and to be devoured by international courts and local revolutionaries only in extreme cases, when they become waste material and are squeezed dry in the sense of forcing through their hands the decisions the United States needs. Let's remember South Vietnam or the Khmer Republic of Marshal Lon Nol. Here are also examples of the dictatorships of Somoza in Nicaragua or Pinochet in Chile.

Somoza, by the way - that same “our son of a bitch” - suffered as a result of one of the geopolitical detente, when the government of Democrat Jimmy Carter decided that continuing to sponsor the discredited and presumptuous native king only harmed the international image of the States. And a few months later, Somoza, deprived of American support, was overthrown by the Sandinistas.

And Pinochet, who had served his time, was removed more beautifully - with the help of the “velvet revolution” and the referendum held in its wake, which previously denied the all-powerful dictator confidence in his constitutional plans.

It is obvious that no matter how much the talking heads in Moscow would like it, The States, and along with them the EU, do not yet consider Zelensky as waste material. They give him money and weapons, provide political cover, and at the same time correct his policies with the invisible hand of their advisers.

And at the same time - scrupulously they collect dirt on Zelensky and his satraps, so that at the right moment, with proper coverage in the media, it will become a trigger for the indignant Ukrainian public. And then the card will fall - either Zelensky will be demolished during the next “people's revolution”, or they will simply ride in the elections, like Poroshenko, who was fed up with everyone back then, was given a ride.

But no one knows when this will happen. Anything can become a “black swan” and there is no practical sense in fantasizing about this topic. The main thing is that Zelensky is not in danger here and now. Despite the reports of the State Department in such harsh tones, in a different situation and with other actors they would have been drawn, at a minimum, to the tribunal.
