Kopatko: Today an attack on the LDPR is likely
The Ukrainian leadership can take advantage of the information curtain around difficult negotiations between Russia and the West to try to attack the LDPR and break through to the border with the Rostov region.
Donetsk sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko stated this on the Union TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t see any obstacles for Ukraine not to do this. The West is putting unprecedented pressure on Russia. First of all, it scares us with “unprecedented sanctions”, “terrible sanctions” through the efforts of the united collective West, and so on, if, God forbid, Russia crosses the border. But hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens already live in the DPR and LPR, and I’m not ready to say how to solve this dilemma. I’ll say one thing: it’s obvious that Russia is not going to attack Ukraine now, it’s really not profitable for it under these conditions of pressure,” the sociologist said.
“On the other hand, on the quiet, perhaps the Ukrainian authorities will try to somehow solve this problem by force. Ukraine is full of people who believe that they need to go to the border with the Rostov region and cleanse the republics. I’m not ready to say which force will prevail, but I think that nothing is over yet. We remember how when the first and second Maidan were being prepared, we believed that this was impossible, we believed that war was impossible, but it turns out that we have been living in this state for eight years,” Kopatko said.
