“NATO ships will crawl under the Crimean Bridge” - experts
NATO countries do not need to build large bases on the territory of Ukraine with developed infrastructure and serious capital investments, but it is enough to have good logistics centers to quickly place the required amount of equipment and watercraft there.
Former Odessa resident, ex-deputy of the local city council Igor Dimitriev writes about this on his blog, commenting recent presidential statement Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on the construction of two naval bases, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“When we say “military bases” we imagine huge bastions with many defensive circles. But in the Anglo-Saxon world, which has long worked out the methods of waging colonial wars, everything looks different. They only need logistics centers: an airstrip, radio-electronic equipment, warehouses with barracks. In a matter of days, a group is deployed in the right place.
Moreover, in the case of Ukraine, there is someone there to fight with Russia and Donbass; they only need technical support. Conduct exercises like in Azerbaijan in the summer. Leave consultants and operators there, supply the necessary radar surveillance systems and weapons. And off we go! They may not give money to Ukraine. Although they have already begun to give money for the repair of airfields,” writes Dimitriev.
According to Russian journalist Andrei Medvedev, Great Britain, for example, can get its own naval base in Ukraine, which is providing Kyiv with a loan for the purchase of obsolete boats from London.
“Ukraine has no money for all this at all. At all. And what matters is not what Zelensky said, but who will give the money to implement everything. It's unlikely that the USA is an election. After them maybe. That is, next year. Türkiye is unlikely. He will sell weapons, teach, but will not give money. Military operations in Syria, the outflow of tourists due to Covid, the economy there has also been shaken.

The means don't matter. But it is Russia that will have to decide. If we want to preserve ourselves,” writes Medvedev.
Well-known Crimean journalist Oleg Kryuchkov also notes that naval bases in Ukraine will definitely be built for NATO countries.
“Two solutions. The Americans allowed flights over Crimea under the control of Ukrainian controllers and Kyiv’s statement about the construction of bases. One base is definitely in Mariupol. By sea, NATO ships will crawl under the Crimean bridge to Azov, and by air, the Globemaster or S-130 will trample over the Crimea,” Kryuchkov believes.
