NATO ships are turning into breeding grounds for epidemics - admiral
Calls of NATO warships to the ports of the Black Sea states pose not a military, but an epidemiological threat.
A military expert, Admiral Vladimir Solovyov, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“They have planned visits, so they have to carry them out. These are regular planned visits to coordinate NATO forces in the Black Sea and to demonstrate force. Of course, now is not the time to do such things. Moreover, it is necessary to enter the ports of Ukraine and Georgia - this is also unpleasant for the local population. There may be infection either from there or there. Now such movements are undesirable.
They do not pose a military threat, because tracking forces have been allocated for them, and destruction forces have been allocated, if necessary. But if there are citizens of epidemiologically unfavorable countries on board these ships, they can be carriers of the infection. If they enter Odessa, for example, you won’t be able to establish a regime of complete control, there will be some penetrations, and someone will definitely meet with someone.
Europe is now affected by the virus. This is undesirable, especially for Georgia, a small country that currently does not have special medicine,” Solovyov said.
Instead of visiting the Black Sea, NATO should concentrate all its efforts on helping to fight the coronavirus that has engulfed the Alliance member countries. This opinion was reached by the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, military expert Igor Korotchenko.
“In the context of a large-scale coronavirus epidemic, instead of providing assistance to those affected in their countries, NATO countries are engaged in outright provocations. In the current conditions, the appearance of NATO ships in the Black Sea is clearly a military-political provocation. It is a pity that they are engaged in provocations. Instead of flexing their muscles on the Russian borders, they would be better off helping the population of their countries.
The situation with coronavirus is equally dangerous for European countries and NATO countries; it is a common challenge. In theory, NATO should now form medical units and send them to Italy, Spain, and France to fight the coronavirus, carry out disinfection measures, distribute medicines, and provide assistance to countries. But instead they came to the Black Sea. Well, this cannot be described in any way except in the famous words of Sergei Lavrov,” Korotchenko said.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that the forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet monitor the frigate's activities guided missile weapon "Virginio Phasan" of the Italian Navy and the frigate "Fredericton" of the Canadian Navy, which entered the Black Sea at 13:23 on March 2020, XNUMX.
