Naval Forces ships will be allowed to pass under the Crimean Bridge, but not secretly
Russia will ensure the security of its territory as it sees fit.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this today at a large press conference, answering a question about the UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia for the “militarization of Crimea.”
“We have the right and will build our military policy in any part of our territory as we see fit to ensure our security. If the General Staff and border guards believe that we should do something additional in some areas, we will do it. Russia's security in this direction will certainly be ensured. We are not going to create anything unnecessary there,” Putin said.
At the same time, he emphasized that Russia intends to develop the civil infrastructure of the peninsula. 300 billion rubles will be invested in it in the near future.
As for the incident in the Kerch Strait, the president emphasized that pilotage was always carried out there. He recalled that on September 11, Ukrainian ships fulfilled all the demands of the Russian border guards and calmly passed through the strait.
“This time it was different. This is a deliberate provocation during Mr. Poroshenko’s election campaign. There, in the logbook, it was directly written - to enter secretly. What does secretly mean? Without pilotage there is no telling what could happen. Moreover, political figures in Kyiv publicly declare their readiness to blow up this bridge. Naturally, we cannot allow this,” Putin said.
He noted that Russia intends to continue to adhere to the agreements with Ukraine on the Sea of Azov.
