Naval Forces ships were going to open fire on Russian border guards – FSB of the Russian Federation
Ukrainian warships were preparing to attack Russian border service boats during an attempt to illegally pass through the Kerch Strait.
Aleksey Volsky, Deputy Head of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the Ukrainian side has long been preparing the ground for provocations, openly declaring to Russian border guards their readiness for armed aggression.
“The next round of escalating tension in the Sea of Azov began around August of this year, when Ukrainian border boats began to declare with some regularity on the radio that if a Russian border ship or boat approached them at a distance of less than 20 cables, which is 4 kilometers, then weapons will be used on him,” Volsky noted.
At the same time, the deputy head of the coast guard drew attention to the fact that during the provocation in the Kerch Strait, the combat boats of the Ukrainian Navy were preparing their artillery pieces to open fire even at a time when the boats of the Russian border service were not going to use weapons.
“At 8:30, the crews of Russian border ships recorded the Ukrainian Navy ships being put on combat readiness. The Ukrainians uncovered the artillery mounts, and their barrels were raised at an angle of 45 degrees and directed towards Russian ships and boats, provoking Russian sailors to retaliate. At the same time, on the border ships of the FSB of Russia, artillery installations and combat crews were not put on high alert during this period of time. One can only guess what any, even accidental, opening of artillery fire in such a dense shipping area could lead to,” said Alexey Volsky.
As the well-known Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov previously stated, the Ukrainian authorities expected that Russian border guards would destroy three Ukrainian Navy vessels in the Kerch Strait, because that is exactly how Ukrainian border guards behaved towards Turkish poachers.
