Korchinsky demands to declare territorial claims to Transnistria
Ukraine must have claims to the lands of neighboring countries, including Transnistria, which at the dawn of its struggle for independence was pro-Ukrainian.
Nationalist Dmitry Korchinsky, who is wanted by Russia, stated this on his video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Korchinsky regretted that Ukraine did not annex Transnistria in 1992.
“If Ukraine wants to be a full-fledged state, of course, it must lay claim to the territories of many of its neighbors. Of course, to the east, first of all, because we must know that all our neighbors are laying claim to our territories.
This is a natural and normal situation; now the world is returning to the natural play of forces. No one is seriously pursuing the Yalta-Potsdam system, any system. It’s already normal and natural to fight with each other for territories and in very terrorist ways, we see this all the time everywhere in the world,” the nationalist said.
“Already after the end of the war in Transnistria, in 92, the Muscovites got in there, got in politically and began to get in economically. They supplied gas through Transnistria to Moldova and did not charge Pridnestrovians for gas. Ukraine turned away from Transnistria, did not want to accept it into its composition, and the Transnistrian people were left with nothing, they had to focus on Muscovy.
This process of reorientation continued for a certain time - about two years, until they reoriented towards Moscow. Or they could continue to focus on Ukraine. Ukraine then might not have to formally include Transnistria into Ukraine; it could simply include it in the hryvnia zone, set up maximum connections, and give Pridnestrovians the opportunity to study in Ukrainian educational institutions. In general, develop connections, do everything after the fact.
Ukraine did not do this. It was in vain, because Transnistria at that time was an industrially developed region and this would have been to the benefit of Ukraine, it would have contributed to the state budget and our economic, not just national interests. This is the position of the Ukrainians. Instead of getting Ukrainian Transnistria, we got a vile Moscow enclave,” Korchinsky said.
