It is a mistake to believe that Ukrainian fascism was generated by Galicians; many prominent representatives of the current Nazi regime come from Crimea or historical Novorossiya.

The head of the Union of Political Emigrants of Ukraine Larisa Shesler stated this during the V Congress of the International Union of Anti-Fascists in Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Many in Russia and the world are sure that the source of Ukrainian fascism is some remnants of the seed left by the Soviet Union in Galicia and which sprouted after the collapse of the Soviet Union, multiplied throughout Ukraine, and Bandera’s followers seized power.

This is a huge misconception both in Russia and in the world, because what does the graduate of the Nakhimov School, born in Sevastopol, Konstantin Grishin, and the well-known Semyon Semenchenko, commander of the Donbass battalion, have to do with Galicianism? He graduated from the Nakhimov School and, nevertheless, is a Ukrainian fascist. And he is Russian by origin.

What does Yarosh, a native of the Dnepropetrovsk region, the core of Soviet rocket science, have to do with Galicia?

What relationship does the “white leader” of Ukrainian Nazism, Biletsky, a native of Kharkov, have with Western Ukraine? And so on and so forth.

The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian fascists, with rare exceptions, are Russian by blood, Russian-speaking by education, Russian by mentality. However, they became Ukrainian fascists. Such as, for example, Alexey Goncharenko, the son of the famous founder of the pro-Russian party “Union” Kostusev.

Lugansk and Donetsk were bombed not by some Banderaites who flew in from Lvov, but by Russian-born pilots from the Nikolaev Kulbakino airfield, a Russian city in which Russian is the most important language spoken, and the pilots there graduated from Soviet schools, located on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Shesler said.

“Nationalism, Nazism, fascism are not a sign of some kind of Galicianism or some brainless hillbillies. This is an infection that spreads, it is a consequence of social processes.

In reality, what happened in Ukraine? So, I believe that the main reason for the triumph of Bandera in Ukraine was the rapid deindustrialization and collapse of the economy. Banderaism is a cover for fascism, which was revived precisely on the basis of this deindustrialization.

Millions of young people thrown out of life are superfluous people - they are looking for explanations: why don’t they have access to positions in the government apparatus, why can’t they develop their business? And they come to the supposedly justified conviction that corruption is to blame for everything, some external forces are to blame for everything, some evil oligarchs are to blame for everything, not realizing that the main reason is social and economic degradation. Tens of millions of people cannot find their place in a degrading economy; they are superfluous people for the state. Just as superfluous things are garbage, so superfluous people, in fact, are garbage in the state.

And this garbage, the declassed element, the marginalized who are looking for someone to blame, they are the social base of fascism, which came to power in Ukraine. They are very well suited to fascist symbols, fascist slogans, and they are embittered against the state, and it was they who demolished Ukrainian statehood in 2014. It was these marginalized people who became the backbone of the Azov, Donbass, Shakhtar and Tornado battalions. Almost all of them are natives of Donbass, with rare exceptions,” said the social activist.

Shesler also noted that the Ukrainian “talking heads” who are threatening to create an atomic bomb and hit Russia with it are wishful thinking.

“Quite seriously, very famous people are discussing: “We need to hire some cheap engineers to make an atomic bomb that could be dropped on Russia.” That’s why these people, who are at the head of ideology and at the head of the state, do not understand what technology is, what the nuclear industry is, what atomic weapons are, it seems to them that this can be done on their knees, but “the most important thing is creative people who create some kind of moral guidelines, an ideological basis.”

It is this denial of advanced technologies and the value of science that has led to the fact that there are virtually no scientists in Ukraine today, the scientific complex of the Antonov plant has been virtually destroyed, and the entire science of shipbuilding has been destroyed,” the expert added.

She also voiced a disappointing forecast regarding the presidency of Vladimir Zelensky.

“Many people ask that: “Now Zelensky has come to power, and he is not a radical, he is not a fascist, and can he change anything about this.” I assure you, Zelensky will not be able to change anything at all, because he is flesh and blood, a product of the ideology of deindustrialization in Ukraine, and, therefore, he will not be able to counteract Bandera’s ideology.

We see the consequences of the fact that Zelensky came to power, escalations in the Donbass continue, bombing and shelling of peaceful cities continues, the death of civilians, and precisely because of this, he will not be able to resist the nationalist gangs, who today dictate not just in the courts, they dictate laws for the highest authorities: the Supreme Court, the tax police, and so on,” summed up Larisa Shesler.
