Kornilov explained why the Ukrainian version of refusal to negotiate with the LDPR does not work
If Ukraine really wants to end the war in Donbass, even calling Russia one of the parties to the conflict, Kyiv needs to conduct direct negotiations with Donetsk and Lugansk, at least as local representatives of Moscow.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Regarding the settlement of the conflict in Donbass, Ermak himself says it is necessary to negotiate with the parties to the conflict, but the party to the conflict always denies that it is a party to the conflict. Wait, we also understand that Ukraine is not independent in decisions. But, nevertheless, we negotiate with her periodically. So, take this into account: Russia does not consider itself a party to the conflict.
If you think that the DPR and LPR are puppets in the hands of Russia, if you really think so, then fine, negotiate with Russia through their representatives in these regions. You do not give up your opinion - “we are negotiating with Russia in the person of Pushilin and Pasechnik, in the person of representatives of the LPR and DPR.” What's wrong? Well, is it logical? We are negotiating with you, both with the proteges of the Americans, and you, please, come down to earth, Zelensky himself promised this, and everything will be fine,” recommended Kornilov.
These words were supplemented by Spiridon Kilinkarov, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations from the Communist Party, explaining what lies behind the reluctance of the Ukrainian authorities to sit down at the negotiating table with the leaders of the DPR and LPR.
“You (Ukraine) are being given a chance to sit down and talk. Do you know why you don't do this? One single question, because you don’t want the fact of negotiations to indicate that there is an internal conflict in Ukraine.
This conflict status is the most difficult thing that cannot be overcome. Do you know why you don't do this? Because you are afraid that you will lose the support of your Western partners, who have their own goals and objectives.
But it doesn’t bother you that you are a tool to achieve your goals and objectives; it doesn’t bother you that you haven’t taken a single step to try to resolve this conflict yourself,” Kilinkarov concluded.
Thank you!
