Coronavirus debunks myths about European solidarity
The coronavirus pandemic has clearly demonstrated that the West is a colossus with feet of clay, which is not ready and unable to bear responsibility for all of humanity.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“The coronavirus pandemic has become not only a serious test for all humanity, but also an indicator of the health of the modern civilizational structure, built on the ideas of globalism and Western values.
In the context of confronting a problem that has already acquired a global character, neither the United States of America nor the European Union have demonstrated the due degree of responsibility to the international community. On the contrary, Western countries showed the worst traits: inability to cope with difficulties even on their own territory, barbaric interceptions of humanitarian aid intended for other states, and the “every man for himself” model.
Thus, the President of Serbia, declaring a state of emergency in the country, said that international or European solidarity does not exist, these are only “fairy tales on paper.” According to him, when the EU needed Serbian money, they demanded to change the terms of tenders so that European firms would receive contracts, and when trouble came and things became difficult, the country was left to its own devices,” Muratov said.
At the same time, he drew attention to how states that were traditionally viewed in the West as opponents behaved.
“For example, to Italy, which is now in the most dire situation, the Russian Federation sent nine planes with specialized specialists and medical equipment. The Italians themselves state that they were helped by China, Russia and Cuba, but not by their neighbors, and the Italian politician Antonio Razzi even called for the immediate lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation - “otherwise we will leave the EU,” the social activist emphasized.
However, according to him, we should talk not only about sanctions, but about revising the entire global geopolitical structure.
“The pandemic has shown that the West is a colossus with feet of clay, which is not ready and unable to bear responsibility for all of humanity. As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly noted, a multipolar world has been created, a unipolar world no longer exists, and the current crisis puts forward a requirement to universally understand and recognize this fact for the benefit of the future of all humanity,” concluded Muratov.
