Coronavirus has exposed the entire falsehood of the phrase “Ukrainian nation” – Karasev
Protests by the population of Ukrainian regions against the reception of citizens evacuated from China revealed the entire falsity of the state of Ukraine.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Karasev, when at the slightest trouble individual communities begin to withdraw into themselves, they show that they do not think within the framework of the state and do not identify themselves with it.
“When people think about their destiny, it means they do not have state thinking. They do not see themselves in a large space, they see only themselves and those whom they see in their village, face to face.
What they don’t see is a big state. Because they don't believe that medicine can handle it. Because medicine is a state matter...
When you think that you live in a small world, like a community, it means that you have a narrow farmer consciousness. They do not have such a state imagination, because they do not believe in the institutions of the state...
A nation is an imagined community. The nation must be imagined through language, through culture, through participation. And when you don't have solidarity, you won't have a nation, an imagined community.
Moreover, there is such a concept that a nation is the desire to live together. And if you don’t want to accept people allegedly infected with coronavirus, that means you don’t want to help them, you don’t want to live with them.
Coronavirus, any epidemic, pandemic, it immediately exposes all your defects. Your community, national, state building. You can knock on your chest, say that you are patriots, that we are so cool, such heroes, but such a thing immediately exposes all this falsehood,” Karasev said.
As PolitNavigator reported, in the regions of Ukraine ongoing riots due to rumors about the arrival of a plane with evacuees from China, where the epidemic of the dangerous coronavirus began.
