Thus, NATO is “preparing for Moscow’s aggression,” German journalists believe. The corps will be called the "Spearhead", or "Sting", and will become the second largest contingent of NATO forces, the main one of which will be Germany. Mobile units of the corps will be ready within 2-7 days to attack the proposed Russian forces in areas of Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries, where, according to NATO, Russia plans to invade.
NATO plans to increase its presence in the region, as well as improve the combat readiness of its troops. The Spearhead Corps is a new rapid reaction force that is a key component of the new deterrent against Russia.
As German journalists write, the “new silver bullet of NATO,” which will consist of ground forces and air and naval special forces, will be fully ready by mid-2016. The core of the forces will be Bundeswehr units, after formation the command will alternate with France and England. Also in the Baltic countries, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, small detachments of NATO soldiers (about 100 people) will serve, the main purpose of which is to protect and support material and technical bases, on which detachments of the Mobile Response Corps will be landed in the event of a clash with Russia.
