Kommersant correspondent calls for Russian journalists to be expelled from Ukraine

Kiev journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya, who regularly publishes in the Russian publication Kommersant (and previously headed the Ukrainian version of the newspaper Izvestia), believes that all her Russian colleagues should be expelled from Ukraine.

Sokolovskaya stated this in the studio of the Ukrainian edition of Radio Liberty.

“We have a legal basis for expelling such people. We have suspended the official accreditation of such journalists. There was a decision by both the Verkhovna Rada and the presidential administration that for the duration of the hybrid war, the accreditation of all Russian media was suspended except those that prove that they are objective. Now two Russian media have proven that they are objective: Novaya Gazeta and Kommersant,” Sokolovskaya said.

She laments that the SBU acted “technically incorrectly” in the situation with Channel One correspondent Anna Kurbatova.

“The SBU did what was needed, but it was technically incorrect. This girl was grabbed on the street by two unknown guys and taken somewhere. This became the reason to create such a huge boom in the Russian media. They thought it had been stolen. I wonder why they did this. They could come to her office, record everything on video, present everything as needed, and send it away. It would be beautiful, and we wouldn’t be charged with anything,” Sokolovskaya said.

Earlier Vladimir Zhirinovsky called Sokolovskaya “the last piece of trash” for her words in support of the opening of NATO headquarters near Odessa.
