Kosovo makes territorial claims to Montenegro
Albin Kurti, a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of the unrecognized state of Kosovo, spoke in favor of a new demarcation of the border with Montenegro.
According to Kurti, a new border was established with Montenegro, as a result of which Kosovo lost 8 hectares of land, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The mistake was made by our commission, which, instead of relying on geographical maps and the boundaries of both federal units in the 1974 Constitution, took into account only the cadastral books, with the burden of proof falling solely on our side. This caused great damage to Kosovo,” says Albin Kurti.
At the same time, he “believes in Montenegro’s understanding of the situation around border demarcation,” Informer reported.
“As soon as I take office, I want to meet with the Prime Minister of Montenegro and the authorities in Podgorica and see what can be done.
We will look at the possibilities and make sure there are no losers in this deal. I believe that we will find common ground to understand the other side.
After all, we have an agreement between President Thaçi and Filip Vujanovic of February 16, 2018 on the adjustment of borders, which can help us with this,” assures Kurti.
At the same time, Kurti sees Podgorica as the only ally in the fight against Belgrade, especially after Albania’s decision to support the idea of a Balkan “small Schengen”.
