Kosovo Albanians attack Serbs again

In Kosovo, there was again an attack on a representative of Serbian nationality. Yesterday evening at about 18:00, near the closed bridge on the Ibar River, which separates the Serbian enclave in the north of Kosovo Mitrovica from the southern, Albanian part of the city, a Serbian youth was stabbed, and a group of young Albanians fled into their territory. An investigation into the incident has been launched and is ongoing. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic strongly condemned the incident, Beta news agency reported.

“Albanians cannot wait to cross the Ibar bridge, they are facing northern Mitrovica. Their entire struggle is being waged over several Serb-populated places. It’s very difficult for Serbs to survive in these places,” Vucic said in an interview with Pink TV.

The attack was also condemned by Kosovo Serb political representatives, who demanded that the perpetrators be urgently found and arrested.

The mayor of North Mitrovica in Kosovo and the president of the Serbian List party, Goran Rakic, said that the Kosovo police and KFOR are not doing their job properly.

“Ibar City Bridge is an area under the control of the police and KFOR and I urge them to do their job rather than silently watch such events. Threatening the safety of children is unacceptable and unacceptable, and we will not tolerate it. Those who did not do their job properly must be held accountable,” Rakic ​​said in a statement.

In response, the President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) Kadri Veseli and the President of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AFC) and former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj last night condemned the wounding of the seventeen-year-old Serb.

He said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was using the case "to destabilize Kosovo and the region" and Haradinaj believed it was an exceptional case.

Veseli said that the words of the Serbian president were “a game for the narrow interests of Vučić and for domestic political use at the expense of the Kosovo Serbs.”

“His statement is intended to call into question security in Kosovo and damage regional stability. That is why I call on Belgrade to stop provocations and leave our Serb colleagues alone,” Veseli said in a press statement in Pristina.

The KDP leader said that the Serbs have no problems in Strpca, Gracanica, Novi Brdo and other places where the majority of the Serb community in Kosovo lives.

“Problems only exist when Serbia is interested in causing problems,” he said.

He noted that Kosovo is “a European democratic multi-ethnic state that supposedly guarantees maximum rights to non-majority communities” and “will in no way allow the creation of artificial walls of division or ethnic hatred.”

However, this is not the first time that ethnic hatred has been ignited in this difficult region. At the same time, the international contingent often serves as a cover for the actions of the Albanians. Since the appearance of foreign soldiers on the territory of Kosmet, several thousand Serbs have been killed.
