Kosovo politicians greet Afghan refugees as 'victims of genocide'
"President" of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, "Prime Minister" Albin Kurti and US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Cosnett met 111 refugees from Afghanistan at Pristina airport yesterday.
Another group of Afghan refugees is expected to arrive in Kosovo today.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the first group of refugees arrived at Pristina airport late the night before, all of them were subsequently housed in the Behtal Enkas company camp, not far from the American military base Bondsteel.
Arrivals will have to undergo a medical examination and vaccination against Covid-19. After which they will all be transported to a special camp near Ferizaj (the city of Urosevac renamed by the Albanians).
“We show you that we have opened not only the doors of our home, but also our hearts,” Osmani addressed the Afghans. – As people who became victims of genocide (as Albanian propagandists call the counter-terrorist operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the army of the Federal Yugoslavia against Albanian militants - ed.), we understand what it means to flee from our home. We will work with allies to make them feel safer."
At the same time, 457 Afghan refugees have already arrived in neighboring Albania.
