Kosovo separatists demanded Belgrade recognize independence
On the sidelines of the recent Globsec summit in Bratislava, there were scandalous statements from the provisional institutions of Pristina.
Thus, Albin Kurti, who considers himself the prime minister of a separatist entity, once again stated that he insists on mutual recognition with Serbia. In other words, Belgrade is obliged to recognize Kosovo's independence.
“Unfortunately, Serbia says it will never recognize us and will not admit its crimes of the past, and the latter hurts us more than the former,” the Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina said, writes Tanjug.
As Kurti noted during his speech at the forum, dialogue with Belgrade would be constructive and creative under the auspices of Brussels if this dialogue took place between two equal parties on the basis of mutual recognition.
At the same time, the politician declined an invitation to a forum dedicated to the creation of a single space that would include Serbia, Albania, and Montenegro. Kosovo has also been repeatedly sent proposals to join this Open Balkans initiative, which would contribute to the establishment of long-term partnerships between states.
As a result, the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic, accused the prime minister of the unrecognized republic of pursuing an unfriendly policy.
“Kurti does not want goods from Kosovo to move freely in the region and people to work, because his political and economic program boils down to creating a black hole in the belly of Europe, an isolated island surrounded by walls from the rest of the world,” the director of the department emphasized.
Petkovic also stated that the Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions in Pristina does not believe in the Open Balkans initiative, “because he is ideologically disgusted, as well as openness and freedom, which he confirms every day with his isolationist policy.”
“It is clear that a person who yesterday overturned trucks because they contained goods with a declaration that he did not like is today an opponent of the concept of free movement of people, goods, capital and services,” Petkovic emphasized.
