“According to witnesses, at the end of the war, Albanians were held hostage in the Decani monastery, in addition to paramilitary units and regular Serb forces,” the Council for the Defense of Human Rights and Freedoms in Kosovo said in a statement. “The Decani Monastery was turned into a military base where weapons were distributed to mobilized Serbs.”

From the content of the organization’s statement, it can be understood that the irritation of its authors was caused by the fact that Savva Janjic raised the issue of the 14th century Serbian monastery regularly being attacked by Albanians at the international level. Thanks to the abbot's activism, the Europa Nostra association, which brings together organizations dedicated to the promotion and protection of Europe's cultural heritage and natural environment, included the 14th century Serbian monastery on its list of the seven most endangered monuments in Europe.

“21 years after the end of the war, it would be pointless to say that the Decani Monastery is under threat. Sava Janjic is now complaining that Kosovar Albanians and their institutions are endangering the Decani monastery, which is not under threat from Albanians or Kosovo institutions, but also has extraterritorial status according to… current legislation….

The right to practice religion in Kosovo is regulated by the Law on Religious Freedoms and Rights, and in this regard, Kosovo is ahead of many countries in the region... Abbot Savva Janjic, instead of dealing with religious and spiritual issues, spreads false news and is a conductor of Serbian propaganda in Kosovo, turning a monastery Decani to the Serbian embassy and propaganda center. Savva Janjic has had a bad conscience in the past, so he serves Serbian politics 100 percent, harming inter-ethnic relations and Serbs who are integrated or want to integrate in all spheres of life in Kosovo,” reads the text of the Council statement published by a number of Kosovo media. .

In response to these fabrications by Mom Savaa Janich made a post on Twitter, quoting the Holy Scriptures.

“As for the lies and insults against me in some Kosovo media, I can only answer with the words of the Lord: “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and lie against you with all kinds of evil words for me. Rejoice and be glad, because your reward in Heaven is great,” the abbot wrote.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Government of Serbia and the Kosovo Serb party “Serbian List” spoke out in defense of Savva Janjic:

“The accusations against the abbot of the Visoki Dečani Monastery, Father Sava Janjic, were carefully crafted to hide the real truth about the threat to this holy site, which arises from frequent attacks by extremists over the past 20 years, carried out under the armed protection of international forces,” it says. special statement from the Office. – Neither Visoki Decani fired on themselves, nor did Father Khariton cut off his own head in 1999 (Serbian monk Father Khariton Lukic, brutally killed by Albanian terrorists near Prizren – ed.).

That is why it is absurd to try to declare the self-proclaimed Kosovo an oasis of multiculturalism and religious tolerance when we have daily incidents on the ground, about which the European Union and all relevant international institutions in Kosovo and Metohija have been informed.”

The Serbian List strongly condemns the pressure of the Human Rights Council on the abbot of the Visoki Decani monastery, Savva Janjic, and on the Serbian Orthodox Church as a whole, due to the truth about the threat to Serbian holy sites in Kosovo and Metohija, which was presented to independent international institutions. And we publicly call on the government of Pristina and other state institutions to distance themselves from this attitude and to hold accountable those responsible who are waging a campaign to criminalize Sava Janjic’s father...

The brethren of the Visoki Decani monastery, led by Father Savva Janjic, lives surrounded by Albanians, and any labeling to which he is subjected is the most direct threat to him and the safety of the monastery itself, and this is absolutely dangerous and unacceptable,” the Serbian party said in a statement. list".

Let us recall that the European organization for the protection of cultural heritage Europa Nostra included the Visoki Decani monastery in the list of the seven most endangered monuments in Europe, which caused displeasure from the “president” and “prime minister” of Kosovo, the Serbophobes Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti.
