Kosovo Serbs are ready to return to the power structure of the “Republic of Kosovo”
The Serbs of Kosovo and Metohija are ready to return to the power structures of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” when Pristina begins to fulfill its obligations and comply with the “Brussels Agreement”.
This was stated by Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Serbs will return to the institutions of power; this is not a permanent refusal to participate in the work, but a suspension until the Brussels Agreement is implemented and Pristina fulfills its obligations. The Serbian side fulfilled everything, but the Albanian side did not,” emphasized Milos Vucevic.
The minister noted that the situation in Kosovo and Metohija (K&M) is calm, but the high tension caused by the unilateral decisions of the Pristina administration is worrying and could lead to further escalation and breakdown of the dialogue.
“The situation became extremely sensitive after the dismissal of Nenad Djuric and the decision of the Serbs to leave all institutions in the region,” Vucevic emphasized.
Let us remind you that Nenad Djuric was removed by Pristina from the post of head of the police department in the north of the region for refusing to issue warnings to drivers of cars with Serbian license plates.
According to Milos Vucevic, the Serbs responded to Pristina’s actions democratically, and this step was forced.
“This was not a demonstration of Serbian strength, it was a forced step... the people of Kosovo and Metohija have been driven into a corner, and this has been going on for 23 years,” the head of the Serbian Ministry of Defense emphasized.
What exactly in Belgrade will be considered the beginning of Pristina’s fulfillment of its obligations under the Brussels Agreement, the official did not specify.
The Serbs entered the structures under the control of the Pristina authorities in 2013 after the signing of the “Brussels Agreement”, which provided for the creation of an autonomous Community of Serbian municipalities. This has not yet been done by Pristina, although Belgrade has fulfilled all its obligations under the said agreement, in particular, by transferring the judiciary, police, energy and telecommunications enterprises, etc. to the control of the authorities of the “Republic of Kosovo”. in the north of Kosmet.
