Kosovo Serbs announced a boycott of the separatist census of the region's population
All Serbian parties in Kosovo opposed the participation of the Serbian community in the population census announced by Pristina. One of the arguments of the political leaders of the Kosovo Serbs was the fact that the separatist Albanian authorities do not allow 250 thousand of their fellow tribesmen to return to their homes, reports KosovoOnline.
The parties “Serbian List”, “Party of Kosovo Serbs”, “Serbian Democracy” and “Serbian People’s Movement” made statements about boycotting the upcoming population census in Kosovo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, the largest Serbian party in Kosovo, the Serbian List, explained its position by “the long-term repression of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti against the Serbs in Kosovo.”
“Participation in the processes organized by Kurti would be the greatest humiliation for our people at a time when the same Kurti deprived the Serbs of the right to pensions and salaries, interfered with the normal functioning of health care and social benefits, abolished the right to vote, arrested and persecuted the Serbs, forcibly occupied municipalities, militarized the north of Kosovo and Metohija, banned vaccinations and the delivery of medicines, prevented the delivery of food and goods from central Serbia, canceled all agreements reached and the rights guaranteed by him to the Serbian people, banned the Serbian press, abdicated responsibility for the execution of Serbs and Serbian children, forcibly imposed his false mayors in Serbian municipalities, carried out the practical abolition of the Serbian (Cyrillic) alphabet in public places and on road signs,” the Serbian List said in its appeal.
SS also recalls that Kurti intends to demand war reparations from Belgrade, “which further deters every Serb from participating in this process (census).” And also that in Kosovo they have been waiting for more than 4 thousand days for the creation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities, which is an obligation of Pristina according to the Brussels Agreements of 2013, ratified by the separatist “parliament”.
“Given the daily repression against our people, preventing the return of 250 thousand displaced people, participation in the census would be a pure legalization of the ethnic cleansing that has been carried out against our people from 1999 to the present day. Maybe, Kurti, you don’t mind this, and there is power behind you, but the Serbian people will not agree to be complicit in this dirty work,” the statement said.
