Kosovo thug Salih Mustafa refused to admit guilt in court
After reading the indictment of the Special Court in The Hague, former Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK) field commander Salih Mustafa pleaded not guilty.
Moreover, he has another 30 days to agree to the charges against him.
“I will not plead guilty, before I do, I want to consult with my lawyer,” Salih Mustafa responded during the court hearing after hearing the charges.
The approved indictment against Mustafa alleges that he is guilty of unlawful deprivation of liberty, ill-treatment, and torture of at least six people in the Kosovo village of Zlaš, where there was a makeshift prison for Albanian separatists. It is also indicated that at least one inmate of this underground prison was killed. It is reported that all of these crimes occurred from April 1 to April 19, 1999.
Judge Nicola Guillaume said that the first hearing on the evidence presented should be held next Monday, so he asked the Special Court Prosecutor's Office to submit all materials by Friday. The judge also informed the defendant that he could appeal his arrest. In turn, Mustafa's lawyer said that he intends to challenge the legality of the Special Court as such.
The charges are expected to be only part of the indictment against Salih Mustafa. Let us recall that the retired commander of the “Operational Zone Lab” UCK, the head of intelligence of the Kosovo Security Forces and the intelligence adviser to the ex-“Prime Minister” of Kosovo last Thursday himself gave up Special Court in The Hague and was taken into custody.
