Kosovo fighters will be sent on a foreign mission for the first time
The commander of the Kosovo Security Forces (FSK), “Lieutenant General” Rahman Rama, said that in early March the fighters subordinate to him will go on their first international mission.
Rama told KosovaPress, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
FSK fighters are expected to serve as part of a peacekeeping mission in Kuwait along with US military personnel. The foreign mission will last for them six months. In addition to the Americans, other “partner countries” will also take part in it.
“We are now in the technical phase of completing administrative procedures, and I believe that in March we will have a sufficient number of soldiers who will go on a peacekeeping mission in Kuwait with American soldiers,” Rama said. “We are in the final stages of finalizing the paperwork for all of our warfighters who will be part of this mission.”
According to Rama, there was no end to those wishing to go to Kuwait (especially considering the level of salary of the fighters of the international mission), but the selection of fighters was made in accordance with the conditions of the “partner country,” that is, the United States. The militant commander also expressed the hope that after the end of this mission, FSK will have other similar plans with other “partner countries.”
“There are political problems associated with the non-recognition of (Kosovo - ed.)_ by some NATO member countries, but we have offered our services to all partners, there are countries that have expressed readiness, but there are some procedures that need to be resolved in the future... However, less, in a sense, we have broken the ice, we are ready, we have forces, fighters and weapons, and our goal is to interact with partners, and we have set this standard,” Rahman Rama boasted.
Let us recall that the Kosovo Security Forces exist with the support of the United States and NATO, contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 1244. However, Pristina announced the start of the process of transforming them into a full-fledged army.
