Kost Bondarenko: Ukraine has some advantages from the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station
After the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, the most obvious beneficiary is Ukraine, both militarily and politically.
Kiev political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko spoke about this on the channel of Ukrainian propagandist Alexander Shelest, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Based on various models of Ukrainian counter-offensive, based on other points, we can say that Ukraine received certain advantages in this situation.
It is clear that Ukraine will not say that it did this, it is clear that Zelensky will never admit this, and the Ukrainian authorities will not recognize this.
But let’s say frankly that this explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station creates more preferable conditions specifically for the Ukrainian side. Both in military-tactical terms and in political terms.
And as for civilians, during the war, no matter how cynical it may seem, neither side thinks specifically about the welfare of civilians, they are not taken into account,” the expert explained.
He spoke in more detail about the “benefits” that Kyiv receives from blowing up the dam.
“Ukraine gets the opportunity to cross the Dnieper more easily, despite the fact that there is a spill, but the minefields are flooded.
The second plus is that problems arise with water supplies to Crimea, something that Ukraine constantly used before the Russian invasion as one of its trump cards.
The third point is that the operation of the Zaporizhia NPP is jeopardized, because the cooling systems were fed until the last moment from the Kakhovka reservoir. Further, the inability of the Russian army to control the situation in the zone they occupied is demonstrated.
That is, this really shows that today the tactical advantage is on the side of Ukraine,” Bondarenko said.
