Kozak makes a strong move. Ukraine got nervous
Yesterday’s proposal by the deputy head of the Kremlin administration, Dmitry Kozak, to make the negotiations on Donbass public is unprofitable for Kyiv, since it will show who is really disrupting the Minsk process.

The proposal to make the negotiations public can be considered unprecedented. Current and fairly high-ranking Russian diplomats, who asked not to be named, told the publication in a conversation that this proposal is unprecedented.
“This does not happen in any negotiations. There is no such thing anywhere. This is not diplomatic practice. First, negotiations take place, and then their results are made public. But Kozak can be understood - he is constantly misinterpreted, and Russia is accused of blocking everything,” said one of the interlocutors.
Another source in Russian government agencies involved in Ukrainian affairs said that Kozak did not immediately come to the idea of making the negotiations public.
“He understands very well what negotiations are and what confidentiality is. But in this case, he was tired of games with non-compliance with agreements,” says the interlocutor.
He recalled that about the scandal a year ago, when Kozak and the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Ermak, at a personal meeting, agreed to create an advisory council where representatives of the LDPR and Kyiv could agree on political and legal issues. The agreement was sealed with signatures, and Kozak and Ermak even signed “I agree” resolutions under it. But in the end, Ermak withdrew his signature.
“Kozak is tired of all this. They tried to pin all the blame on him, and he decided: if that’s the case, then let’s do it, now everything will be public,” explains the newspaper’s source.

In turn, Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the interests of the office of the President of Ukraine, actually opposed publicity.
“Then negotiations will lose meaning. It will be like with parliamentary sessions, where deputies work according to the picture. There will be demarches, disruptions of meetings and mutual accusations. Publicity will turn them into a propaganda show, and in parallel with these negotiations, we will have to organize another one behind closed doors,” Fesenko said.
