Kozak will not help Ukraine return Donbass
The supposedly good relations between the heads of the presidential administrations of Russia and Ukraine - Dmitry Kozak and Andrei Ermak, appointed today in Kyiv - will not help Ukraine return Donbass before the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to the expert, the “drain of Donbass” will not happen with the appointment of Ermak.
“Talk about Ermak and Kozak being on good terms? Firstly, I think that these good relations should not be exaggerated, and secondly, the point is not in the relationship, but in the fact that the conflict in Donbass runs into conceptual difficulties. And they consist of simple things - what is needed to resolve the conflict in Donbass, including the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, and the administration of President Zelensky is not going to do this.
And any other decision, such as draining Donbass or something like that under someone else’s good relations, would be, let’s say, a serious mistake and fraught with disaster in Russia’s domestic politics. Therefore, I would not dance ritual dances around this appointment of Ermak, because this issue is much more serious and deeper than Ermak’s personal relationship with anyone, even with Kozak,” Mikheev said.
