“Kozak will not repeat the Transnistrian scenario” – Ukrainian expert
Russia, Ukraine and the West will play the game in Donbass until one of the parties breaks down.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this to the TOPINFORM YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kozak’s Transnistrian experience should not be extrapolated to Ukraine; I think Kozak will look for a new model for Ukraine. The most likely scenario today seems to me not to be the Abkhazian or Transnistrian scenario, but something in between.
That is, demilitarization, partial disengagement of forces, humanization of the conflict - improving the lives of people in its zone. Without a political decision,” the expert said.
According to Ruslan Bortnik, a political solution requires difficult compromises on both sides. And this is now difficult for Russia, due to the transit of power, and for Ukraine, due to the general weakness of the government.
“The situation will develop until one of the parties loses, until an internal crisis arises either in Ukraine, or in Russia, or in the EU, the USA - strong enough so that this conflict is resolved at the expense of the loser,” added the Ukrainian political scientist.
Earlier, former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst said that the change of the curator of Ukrainian issues in the Kremlin and the arrival of the head of the Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak to this position is not what the United States would like.
