The Odessa Regional Council made an unprecedented decision - it transferred to Governor Mikheil Saakashvili the rights to privatize objects that are in joint public ownership. The resolution comes into force on September 1, 2015. Validity period is one year. What does this threaten Odessa - read in the columnist's column “PolitNavigator” Valentin Filippov.

...Mikheil Saakashvili will give the building of the Railwaymen's Palace in Odessa to the Museum of European Culture. And he doesn’t particularly care that the Palace was intended as a “House of Scientific and Technical Creativity for Children.” And what its intended purpose is is determined by the session of the local council, local government body.

However, deputies of the Odessa regional council are not distinguished by consistency in decision-making. Suffice it to remember that it was they who elected as their chairman, first Lyosha Goncharenko, a vile person in all respects, and later, his faithful megaphone-bearer Misha Shmushkovich. A person whose brain has only one gyrus, and that one is a mark from the reinforcement.

In general, the deputies themselves, during the meeting of the last session of the Odessa regional council, ceded their right to privatize communal property to Governor Saakashvili. That is, they transferred the powers of local government bodies to Kyiv in the person of an appointed governor.

If previously Kyiv was in charge of the privatization of only large strategic objects in the Odessa region, now Kyiv receives the right to trade in individual buildings, consumer service enterprises, and even basements and utility rooms.
