Checkpoint “Uzhgorod” – a window into the ass, where Ukrainian legislation was repealed

Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal partially abolished the Customs Code of Ukraine in the territory entrusted to him.

He made this decision during a meeting with the so-called crossings (Ukrainian shuttles), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are returning to the positions we had before, and there were no scandals, there was nothing,” Moskal said.

He criticized the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the adopted amendments to the Customs Code, limiting the duty-free import of goods across the border.

“Have you not seen that this Verkhovna Rada is completely impotent? It should have been disbanded a long time ago,” Moskal said. He called the amendments themselves “bullshit.”

Moskal called the Uzhgorod checkpoint, where Ukrainian legislation will no longer apply, a “window in the ass” due to the poor condition on the Ukrainian side.

“We need to look at reality. Firstly, “Uzhgorod” is overcrowded, in addition, it is not a window to Europe, but a window to the ass, if you look at it from our side,” he noted.

On December 7, the Verkhovna Rada amended the Customs Code, which tenfold limited the duty-free import of goods across the border.

On January 1, 2018, changes in the customs taxation of goods transported across the border of Ukraine came into force. Now the current rules for duty-free import of goods in hand or accompanying luggage in the amount of up to €500 (at airports - up to €1000) and weighing up to 50 kg apply to those who have been absent from Ukraine for more than 24 hours and enter the country no more than once within 72 hours.
In case of more frequent entry, goods worth up to €50 can be imported without duties.
