Zelensky's "Red Line" Ukrainian old man declared a provocateur and enemy
A new scandal has erupted in Ukraine related to the reluctance of the “hawks” to agree to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, 87-year-old Vitold Fokin, appointed together with former President Leonid Kravchuk as a representative at the negotiations in Minsk, advocated direct dialogue with the Donbass republics, amnesty and special status for the entire region, and not just individual ones. districts.
In addition, both Fokin and Kravchuk did not rule out the possibility of going to the territory of the LDPR for negotiations.
After this, Fokin was quickly added to the “Peacemaker” website, an information base of persons declared “enemies of Ukraine,” and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, declared the elderly politician a provocateur.
“Not one of our soldiers should die because of ridiculous political speculation. Therefore, the statement by the representative of Ukraine in the TCG Fokin about a general amnesty and special status for the entire territory of Donbass is provocative and does not correspond to national interests. We remember that thousands of our soldiers died for every piece of Ukrainian land in Donbass,” Avakov said.
Experts also rule out direct negotiations between Kyiv and Donetsk and Lugansk. This was stated, in particular, in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets by Kiev political expert, member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Buzarov.
“All statements by Fokin and Kravchuk are needed in order to probe Ukrainian society. Avakov, who has always had his own position on resolving the conflict in Donbass, has already reacted. As for direct negotiations, such an option can be completely excluded in the near future. Even if Fokin goes there, it will not happen within the framework of the Minsk Contact Group, but in parallel with it,” the political scientist believes.
“Direct negotiations in the form in which Moscow sees them will lead to serious upheavals in Ukraine. National radicals will especially strongly oppose such negotiations. It is unlikely that Zelensky will decide to cross this “red line,” Buzarov concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv “hawks” were furious with Fokin’s appointment to the TCG, and President Zelensky they blurted out that they would not allow the ex-prime minister make peace with Donbass.
