Krasnoselsky: Russia cannot be allowed to collide with NATO in Transnistria
The President of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, criticized the Moldovan authorities, who advocate replacing Russian peacekeepers on the territory of the republic with a Western police mission.
He stated this today at a round table in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today there are a lot of armchair analysts who are talking about replacing the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation with some kind of civilian mission. But in 1992, there was a civilian mission on the territory of Bendery. After the first blow they ran away like mice. They were then collected by the Cossack guards and, covering them with themselves, were taken out of Bendery.
They didn't even bother to write a certificate about the causes of the war. This is the value of a civilian mission... For 30 years, Russia has proven its effectiveness. This is not even discussed. Not discussed, but it irritates the enemies of Transnistria and Russia. There is a desire to discredit peacekeeping. There were different attempts,” Krasnoselsky said.
He recalled that on May 2, 2017, the Constitutional Court of Moldova recognized Russia as an occupier. And in March of this year, the entire Moldovan delegation voted for a similar decision in the Council of Europe.
“The Moldovan delegation voted to recognize Russia as an aggressor and occupier. That is, those who attacked and killed our Transnistrian people are voting to recognize as aggressors those who stopped this massacre and saved the lives of, including the Moldovan military, who were pushed to slaughter. It is a fact. Such collisions of the world order.
I understand that all these decisions are from one anti-Russian case, but Transnistria is a delicate topic. In this case, under no circumstances should we allow the conflict to escalate. It theoretically draws not only Moldova, but also other NATO member states into the conflict. A clash between Russia and NATO cannot be allowed categorically,” the PMR President summed up.
