About it he said on his Facebook.
The installation represents a large black heart, twice the height of a man, mounted on a square base. According to the author’s idea, it turned black “from the sweat and blood of past generations” and “our moral darkness.”
“We all have a homeland. And undoubtedly, our Motherland is the Mother. And naturally, a mother must have a heart. What is this heart like? Of course, cotton wool, of course, big and warm. Shriveled from our idleness and carelessness... The heart of the Motherland is like a silent reproach to us, prodigal sons, recklessly wasting our lives with foreign valentines,” Slonov wrote on Facebook.
“Cotton Heart” was installed on the site near the Cultural and Historical Center, where last year there was a heart made of red umbrellas. The object was created specifically for the XI Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale.
In July 2015, artist Vasily Slonov became the author of the concept of the “Siberian Garden of Cotton Stones”. In September, Slonov created the art object “The Birth of the Vatnik,” which resembles eggs in a cotton shell, as well as flippers and swimsuits made of cotton wool.
