Red carpets have a bad effect on officials - Gordon
The erroneous decisions of the current Kyiv government, which led to the crisis in the country, are allegedly caused by the Soviet atmosphere of the buildings in which Ukrainian politicians work.
Kiev journalist Dmitry Gordon stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many officials and high-ranking officials told me that the buildings of the Cabinet of Ministers built for the needs of the NKVD and the presidential administration, in which, by the way, the fascists once sat, have the very atmosphere of the Soviet Union: red carpets, chandeliers with bronze monograms, marble staircases - they encourage people make bad decisions,” Gordon said.
In his opinion, Kyiv should give the current government buildings to someone, and build cheap glass high-rise buildings for politicians.
“And do you know who found a way out of this situation? Saakashvili. When he was the president of Georgia, he invited me to his new palace, built exactly the same as they are built in the USA - simply, without frills. Minimalism, democratic. His office is beautiful, large, but without any frills or gold. And there I would like to think about some truly advanced solutions for the country. These establishments should be given over to some other organizations, and building glass buildings is quick and tasteful,” Gordon suggested.
