Kravchuk wants a new Belovezhskaya agreement on Donbass
The point of the Minsk agreements that Ukraine should discuss the future of Donbass with the LDPR can be easily bypassed. The decision must be made by the Kyiv authorities together with world powers, just as, for example, the fate of Germany was decided at the Yalta Conference in 1945 without taking into account the opinions of the residents of Berlin.
Ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk stated this on air on the UA:Crime TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia says that Ukraine must negotiate with the LDPR. But when the Second World War was ending, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin gathered in Crimea, without any group. We got together and made a decision.
When we gathered in Belovezhskaya Pushcha - Yeltsin, Kravchuk and Shushkevich, we were not looking for a tripartite group, but made a decision on our own, signed the document by consensus.
Therefore, there is no need to fool us and pretend that we know nothing and take everything on faith. If so, then Putin, Zelensky, Merkel and Macron need to go to Paris. Sit down, they have enough authority, they can invite any consultants, and make a historic decision,” Kravchuk said.
It is interesting that at the same time he stated that it was impossible to combine the issue of Donbass and Crimea at such negotiations.
“The Minsk format was created for Donbass, not for Crimea. The Minsk format was created when open aggression began in Donbass, and in order to stop it, they resorted to creating the Minsk format.
There is no need to merge now. Since the Minsk group has never discussed the issue of Crimea in the presence of the OSCE, how can it be discussed? This is not serious, because there is no position,” Kravchuk said.
