Kravchuk dreams of independence without war and brotherhood with Russia
Russia and Ukraine must end the military conflict, but continue to coexist without slogans about brotherhood or attempts to subjugate Moscow.
The first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What happened immediately after the creation of the CIS - an economic, customs union, a union of Belarus and Russia immediately began to be created. What did this indicate? Russia never thought that the CIS would last long. She thought that this was a way to transition from the Soviet Union to new forms, but the union as such would remain, and Russia would play the main role there.
Never, and I talked, if you take the general secretaries - Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev and so on, I saw different people in different branches of power - no one thought differently. Ukraine should be with Russia. But not just with Russia, but under Russia.
But I have said more than once and now I believe that we cannot and should not help but look for ways to cooperate with Russia, stop the war and live like people. There is no need to talk about brotherhood, friendship - to live as people live in the world. Communicate, exchange products, experiences, sports. But I don’t want us to be under, but to be together,” Kravchuk said.
