Kravchuk about Donbass: “Listen, it’s a different country there”
Lugansk and Donetsk will never be the same part of Ukraine as they were before the war. The first president of the country, Leonid Kravchuk, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities need to think about what rights and freedoms, as well as the form of government, they can provide to the unrecognized republics of Donbass.
“Never, in any balance of power, regardless of who comes to power, Donbass will never again, that Donbass, which is now the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, will be the same as they were before. They will demand some kind of greater freedom, rights, independence.
What form we can agree and provide for this, I am not ready to say now. But what you need to think in advance and predict, study world experience, attract global experts - what proposals there may be.
Because to do it in those territories that have been under the influence of Russia for four years - listen, there is another country there... And we think that tomorrow they will enter Ukraine and will be the same - they will not.
We need to think about what we can give up without giving up territory and sovereignty. I mean the form of government, rights and freedom,” Kravchuk said.
