The Kremlin is preparing to recognize the Donbass republics, – Strelkov
A group of Russian troops stationed on the borders with Donbass will be sufficient to protect the republics in the event of an attack by Kyiv.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on the Internet channel Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Strelkov, it looks like Russia is going to officially recognize the Donbass republics, and troops concentrated along the border will be called upon to protect them from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Apparently, after all, a decision has been made, I hope that it has been made, that the Kremlin is not going to surrender Donbass, because it understands that without any guarantees, the next Crimea, and then everywhere else...
That is, they are going to possibly recognize the republics and protect them. Perhaps, in the best case, advance to the borders of the republics and gain a foothold. There is enough strength for this. There may be enough strength for Kharkov, although there are also big issues there; most likely, the Kremlin will not dare to do so.
Most likely, he will decide to defend the LDPR. At least they can, and they are preparing for it. Why so many troops? Well, for this purpose - to protect the LDPR, solving a tactical problem and not solving a strategic one, there are enough troops for this.
Moreover, even their deployment is quite normal, because if there is no task to go to Kiev or Odessa, then all the same, the deployment of Russian troops in Belarus - they created a good group there under the pretext of elections, in other directions than Donetsk, it is quite adequate, since it distracts part of the Ukrainian forces from the Donetsk direction,” Strelkov said.
