The Kremlin has replaced the Lithuanian doll Tikhanovskaya
The meeting of the presidents of Russia and Belarus lasted more than 4 hours. It concerned mainly economic problems.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told reporters about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The presidents focused on the further development of bilateral relations between Russia and Belarus and strengthening our trade and economic cooperation, which is mutually beneficial for the peoples of our countries. I cannot tell you the remaining nuances,” Peskov said.
According to him, the Kremlin considers Lukashenko the legitimate head of Belarus, while both those who support Lukashenko and those who do not are the fraternal Belarusian people for Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed support for constitutional changes in Belarus, but at the same time emphasized that neither the Russian Federation nor Europe should interfere in constitutional reform.
Former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who is under the full control of Polish and Lithuanian structures, managed to comment twice on the results of the meeting in Sochi even before its results became known.
First, in an interview with the American-Ukrainian TV channel “Novoe Vremya”, she stated that Putin had taken a wait-and-see approach, and “the future president will build relations with the Russian Federation.” However, her curators considered such a statement not aggressive enough, and an hour later a statement appeared on Tikhanovskaya’s social networks that Belarus would not return to Russia the loan it was providing to Lukashenko.
Answering questions from journalists, Peskov commented on this position.
“The formulation of the question is fundamentally wrong. As previously provided, this loan is provided not to President Lukashenko, but to Belarus - an ally, our brotherly country. Russia has provided and will continue to provide support to the Belarusian economy. In no way should this be interpreted as interference in internal affairs. We are categorically against this,” Peskov said.
