The Kremlin was urged to abandon vain hopes of the “return of all of Ukraine”
Moscow is not doing any work to form an opposition loyal to Russia in neighboring countries. Therefore, one should not be surprised when, after the fall of the regime in another capital, pro-American “strange people” come to power.
Semyon Bagdasarov, director of the Center for the Study of the Middle East and Central Asia, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, our politics, especially in the post-Soviet space, are very strange: we choose a leader, they say, he’s good, you can trade with him, but we don’t work with the opposition, we don’t build our own opposition. And when the regime collapses, we are surprised that some strange people with whom the Americans worked came.
As a result, in Ukraine we do not have an opposition oriented towards Russia, and if there is, it is either fragmented or so weak that it is at least stupid to say that it will ever come to power,” the expert said.
“This concerns not only Ukraine. Isn’t that the case in Armenia? The exact same thing happened. Couldn't this happen in other states? Nobody works with the opposition,” Bagdasarov added.
In his opinion, now in Ukraine there is no hope for forces loyal to Russia to come to power and retain control over the country in the face of powerful resistance from nationalists.
Bagdasarov believes that Russia should focus on returning historical Russian lands to its control and abandon hope for positive changes as a result of the elections.
“We cannot wait for the disparate “opposition” focused on Russia to unite. We'll wait! Two or three generations, and there will be no Russian people in Ukraine. We must act!
Regime change in Kyiv will not lead to anything, even if it is not Tymoshenko or someone else. Even if a person who is patriotic towards Russia comes, he will not be able to control all of Ukraine! Because the huge mass of the western part will organize twenty Maidans for him a day, they will demolish him!” – said Bagdasarov.
“We must honestly and frankly say: we are interested in the Southeast, our ancestral land! The ancestral land of the Russians, no matter who they are called,” the expert added.
