In Montenegro, in order not to provoke a conflict with the police, the believers, together with Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and Primorye, walked not along the central streets, but from the Cetinje Monastery to the chapel in Chipura.

Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

On the day of the religious procession in Cetinje, the residence of the Montenegrin and Littoral metropolitans, snow fell. The procession of believers coincided with the holiday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.

“For 30 years in Cetinje, lithiums have been held on this day, a tradition of religious procession, which began in 842 in Constantinople, when the victory of Orthodoxy came, and the icons were returned to Orthodox churches (The heresy of iconoclasm was defeated - ed.), noted Metropolitan Amfilohiy Radovich of Montenegro and Primorye. – Politicians should remember that every power is temporary. Montenegro is not them, and the Church is not me, but these people speak the language of God, and the voice of this people is the voice of God.”

Bishop Amfilohije also noted that there were no “partisans or Chetniks” among those gathered, thereby making it clear that on the Way of the Cross the Serbian people were healing the bloody split that occurred during the civil war that took place in Yugoslavia simultaneously with the Second World War.

“Here are the descendants of both one and the other, who, if they show the will, will become brothers to each other, will be reconciled with each other, and will forgive each other,” added the Metropolitan of Montenegro and Primorsky.

Several hundred people took part in the religious procession in Cetinje, led by the rector of the Cetinje Seminary, Father Gojko Perović.

In order not to provoke a conflict with the police, who had previously banned the lithium “for security reasons,” the move went from the Cetinje Monastery to the chapel in the Chipur district, built on the remains of the medieval Crnojevic monastery, and back.

Let us recall that the local Ministry of Internal Affairs explained its decision by the position of Montenegrin nationalists, who promised to prevent the holding of a procession of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Last Sunday, mass protest religious processions took place in many cities and towns of Montenegro: Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Kotor, Andrijevica, Bar and others.
