The peasants are driven to despair and are ready to sell their land for next to nothing, – Ukrainian Farmers Association
If the Ukrainian authorities implement the IMF’s demand and, in exchange for the next tranche of credit, open the sale of agricultural land, large corporations will buy black soil from impoverished Ukrainian peasants on the cheap.
President of the Association of Farmers and Landowners of Ukraine Ivan Tomich stated this on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Why is the introduction of a land market a socio-economic threat? Factor one: where is the buyer for this rural land? People have nothing to send their children to school and pay for heating; they sit in cold huts with hot water bottles. These people are driven to despair, and some of them are ready to sell for next to nothing.
Second. Corruption system in the field of land relations. I think there is no need to comment on how everything happens in the “wild” market. 10 million hectares of land in the “shadow”.
Now the legal system. These six to seven million owners of land shares are today practically eliminated from property management. Corporate rights, contractual relations, and legal mechanisms actually deprive them of their rights. In the context of the introduction of the land market, they will not have legal protection mechanisms,” the expert said.
