Honestly, I don’t remember that in the nineties, right on the “seventh”, someone shot at someone. There was some stealing, money was broken, and money was being thrown away when exchanging currencies, but there was no shooting. The largest manufactured goods market in the CIS lived by its own unbreakable rules that did not include violence. That is why all the showdowns, murders and robberies moved beyond the “cloud”, “push” or as it was called back then.

A lot can be said about what the “Seventh Kilometer” is today. Some say that this is a separate city, with its own life support systems, taxes and city-forming activities. On the streets of this city there are not only shopping pavilions, warehouses and residential closets, but also bank branches, police and the city administration itself. In fact, they even have their own “migration service.” Right here, on the market, any foreigner who has decided to connect his life with the “Seventh Kilometer” can be legalized.

It is therefore not surprising that a member of the Afghan diaspora became the victim of the attack. The diaspora is so large that in the first minutes of the attack, about a hundred compatriots came to the aid of the victim.

The police who arrived at the scene were unable to answer the question of what it was. The shooting probably had an economic motive. Some debts or vice versa. In the vastness of the “Seventh Kilometer” there is simply unimaginable money circulating, which always has an owner, and sometimes several. The question is different, even such a well-functioning shadow system fails and begins to resemble the Ukrainian state, where lawlessness and racketeering reign.

“The Seventh Kilometer” is feverish with castlings at customs, leapfrogs in the administration, and the ambitions of street nationalists who have still not been able to bring the very monetary structure of Odessa under control. And there are no longer those bandits who, unlike law enforcement officers, could ensure order, security and a fair, authoritative trial.

What is happening at the “Seven” is only a reflection, an echo, an echo of what is happening in Greater Odessa. Just today, cameras on Reshilyevskaya recorded a robbery with chases and shooting right on one of the main streets of Odessa. Such incidents no longer occupy the front pages of news feeds. They rob everyone and everything. Straight from cars at traffic lights. Crosses are torn off from passers-by in broad daylight. Phones and wallets are stolen in prestigious stores. All this without being embarrassed. Right under the cameras. And no video recording allows us to find the criminal, who is not even hiding anywhere.

Meanwhile, during the day, burglars with hammer drills open the doors of apartments in residential areas, taking out the most valuable things. Laptops, TVs, and sometimes underwear. And they remain “elusive”.

In general, I’ve seen all this a lot, I’ve lived for a long time, I love and know Odessa, but it’s a shame for the city to be completely like this. No thieves' romance, just redneckness. Let's come in large numbers.

And sometimes it’s amazing to me how we here in Russia leave money and phones on the sand when diving into the sea. Just like in stores, we place our wallets on the counter while we choose a product. How carefree we are on the street at night when we let you call from our phone. And we consider the main threat to public safety to be IC3PEAK, who is hysterical from the tinted eggplant-colored seven.
