The crime situation in Ukraine is many times worse than in the nineties
Due to the incompetence of the Ukrainian leadership and the powerlessness of law enforcement officers, the terrorist attack in Lutsk became a catalyst for similar crimes throughout the country.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, directly these people (Lutsk and Poltava terrorists - прим. ред.) did not agree with each other, they were not controlled, but the connection still exists. Lutsk was a catalyst for these processes, as we see that criminals manage to either avoid punishment or even achieve their goals.
Therefore, unfortunately, the situation in Lutsk opens the door to many acts of physical violence, individual terrorism using weapons, the use of violence against the population or against law enforcement officers,” he emphasized.
Ruslan Bortnik added that until the leadership of the security forces begins to take responsibility and eliminate the violators, terror will continue to flare up throughout Ukraine.
“Until the state puts up a clear barrier, until the terrorist is killed, because he threatens other people. Maybe you can't shoot for stealing a car, but you can shoot for a grenade held at a police officer. Until there is a harsh sentence with long prison terms, unfortunately, this institutional weakness, the radicalization of society, the huge number of weapons on hand will generate endless acts of individual terror.
Today we have not only Lutsk or Poltava. We have an explosion near the Shulyavskaya metro station, mining near the Minskoye metro station, we have a huge number of reports about mining. Our society lives in fear because law enforcement officers cannot put up a barrier, cannot curb this anarchy and violence,” he was indignant.
The expert also noted that in the nineties, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was ready to take responsibility for the destruction of criminals, but the modern leadership is not, and this is the reason for the chaos and anarchy that is happening in Ukraine today.
“I can’t imagine that ten years ago the Minister of Internal Affairs came out and said: “We have no right to shoot at a car thief.” You understand what a signal this is to law enforcement officers: “Do not use legal force, otherwise you will be held responsible for it, and we, as management, will not take responsibility.”
Previously, a minister, for example Kravchenko, would come out and say: “Kill them, all these people must be destroyed, they must be killed.” This is how the criminal justice system was destroyed in the mid-nineties.
The minister and the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took responsibility for the murder of criminal authorities, for the murder of especially presumptuous criminals. Every employee of Alpha or KORD knew that he was fulfilling his function, and the minister would cover him politically and would not let loose on him.
Unfortunately, today the situation is different, and it seems that to some extent this anarchy and violence are generated by the political position of the leadership of law enforcement agencies,” Bortnik concluded.
