Crisis on the border of Belarus and Poland: Azov militants are ready to leave to help Warsaw
The confrontation on the Belarusian-Polish border continues. Migrants from the Middle East have settled in a permanent camp there and are slowly cutting down the forest for fires. “Previously, the Belarusian authorities, in agreement with the Polish authorities, proactively blocked the movement of refugees to the border with Poland, in the interests of Poland. Now this is not possible, because the Polish authorities do not want to conduct any negotiations with the Belarusian authorities. Belarus will not do anything without negotiations, only under pressure and ultimatums,” explains political scientist Sergei Markov.
Meanwhile, threatening statements are heard from Warsaw. First, to Minsk. Allegedly, migrants were driven to the border “at gunpoint.” By evening, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki upped the ante, blaming the crisis on... Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Lukashenko is the perpetrator of this attack. But he also has an assistant - President Putin. His actions demonstrate his determination to implement the plan to restore the Russian empire - a scenario that we Poles must resolutely oppose,” Morawiecki said.
Tomorrow, EU countries will discuss recognizing the situation on the brink of a “hybrid war” against Poland and Lithuania. The consequence of this may be the introduction of a new package of sanctions. Now the borders of Belarus from the West are actually closed. More than 770 trucks have accumulated there.
Indeed, Alexander Lukashenko called Vladimir Putin today, but they mostly discussed the implementation of union programs.
“Drawing Russia by the ears to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border is an attempt to attract large countries to the affairs of small ones and increase attention at their expense. In the same way, Poland and the Baltic states are trying to drag NATO into the topic. Only their words differ from their deeds. On the borders with the Kaliningrad region there is no increased combat readiness or even basic strengthening of border control either from Poland or from Lithuania. For some reason. Minsk also did not remain in debt. The Polish military attache, Colonel Jaroslaw Kembrowski, was summoned to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus. Information was brought to him “regarding the groundless and unlawful accusations by the Polish side of the involvement of Belarusian military personnel in the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.”
The Belarusian side presented claims to Warsaw regarding the deployment of 12 thousand military personnel on the border. At the same time, Minsk received neither a notification nor an invitation to observers from the Polish side.
The Belarusian public held a picket in front of the Polish embassy today. People held in their hands portraits of children from the refugee camp and posters “Stop genocide at the border”, “Stop torturing women and children.”
Ukraine may also openly get involved in the conflict. The political wing of the Azov National Battalion, which fought in the Donbass, the National Corps party, sent an appeal to the Polish authorities with an offer of help.
“We, the leadership and members of the political party “National Corps”, are ready not in word, but in deed to prove to our allies - the Polish people, that only by uniting, we are able to resist hybrid aggression from the East... We address you with a proposal to consider the possibility of attracting Ukrainian volunteer members our Movement as volunteers to help personnel involved in countering the hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation on the borders of Belarus with the Republic of Poland,” says the appeal to the Polish authorities.
Russian political scientist Sergei Karnaukhov, who was involved in the security forces in the past, draws attention to the fact that the migrant crisis, which Minsk is using to take revenge on Poland for supporting Belomaidan, may in the future create problems for the Russian Federation.
“The main question on the migration issue in Belarus is: what is stopping the flow of migrants from entering Belarus? Then there will be no conflict with Poland! If we follow this logic, then hordes of terrorists can freely arrive in Minsk in quantities of a company per day and from there travel to Russia without visas? What is happening there? Why is this question not raised at the level of the governing bodies of the Union State?” – wrote Karnaukhov.
