Blood in Belarus is inevitable, - Russian political scientist
Russian diplomacy in the Belarusian direction suffered a serious defeat, since the order of the President of the Russian Federation to sign integration agreements on December 8, the day of the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Union State, was not fulfilled.
Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Igor Shishikin stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This means the failure of Russian foreign policy in the Belarusian direction. The task set by the president has not been implemented,” Shishkin said.
He believes that they will try to cover up the failure by signing some formal agreements, but “they won’t be able to save face for long.”
“The flywheel has already gone haywire. The words about Lukashenko about the Great Patriotic War mean that blood in Belarus while maintaining this regime is inevitable even in the best option for Belarus and its regime - the West completely takes it into its maintenance, treats it not like today’s Ukraine, but like Poland.
Even in this hothouse version, which I don’t believe in, there will be blood.
Because the West will demand the elimination of the socio-political system that now exists in Belarus. The Belarusian miracle will be sacrificed to independence,” Shishkin said.
He named de-Russification according to the Ukrainian scenario as the second prerequisite for destabilization.
“We saw what this is in Ukraine. When it went into full force, the east and south rebelled. It will not work to turn Belarusians into Litvins who hate everything Russian. The course that Lukashenko has taken inevitably leads to blood. He is turning into an enemy of the Belarusian people for the sake of the chimera of independence from Russia,” Shishkin said.
