“The Syrian army and its allies announced on Monday that they had taken control of large parts of eastern Aleppo. The Russian military is talking about liberating about 40 percent of the territory of the eastern part of the city from anti-government armed groups. 12 northern neighborhoods are under the control of forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirms the information, reporting, however, about a third of East Aleppo has come under the control of the army,” the channel’s report notes.
Citing Reuters, Euronews quotes one of the militants as saying about the “incredible pressure” that has been felt in recent days from government forces.
“The capture of the northern part of Eastern Aleppo, one of the main strongholds of the armed opposition, is the most important military victory for Bashar al-Assad since 2012,” the channel sums up. – Human rights organizations have recorded an increase in the number of residents of East Aleppo leaving their homes. People are trying to move to territories that are either under the control of government forces or under the control of Kurdish units.”
