The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill that will oblige large shopping aggregator sites to accept Mir cards for payment, which appeared in Russia in 2014 in response to the threat of Western sanctions after the reunification with Crimea.
The decision provides for a gradual reduction of the revenue threshold, upon reaching which work with Mir cards will become mandatory, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Currently, the revenue threshold is 40 million rubles for the previous year.
After the final adoption of the law, working with Mir will become mandatory from September 1, 2020 - upon reaching the revenue threshold of 30 million rubles, from January 1, 2021 - 20 million rubles.
