A high-ranking official in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is at the center of a sexual harassment scandal
Deputy Head of the Department of Economic Protection of the National Police of Ukraine Alexander Varchenko denies accusations of harassment against Kyiv student Natalya Bureyko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About this he wrote on Facebook.
“On November 7, my family and I were subjected to a monstrous information attack. Let me comment on the key points. I, Alexander Varchenko, have never known each other and have never had any correspondence in any messenger with Natalya Bureiko,” Varchenko wrote.
According to his version, hackers created an account using his photographs “and this provocative correspondence with Natalya Bureiko was conducted from it.”
“I think that this information attack is connected with the fact that my common-law wife Olga Varchenko holds the post of first deputy head of the State Bureau of Investigation and has become a bone in the throat of many. She spoke publicly about provocations and dirty media attacks just recently. I suspect that this is just the beginning,” Varchenko added.
He assures that he is ready to give exhaustive testimony to law enforcement agencies regarding “this provocation, about which I made a corresponding statement.”
“I love my family and will not allow anyone to use my name for vile provocations,” Varchenko clarified.
Previously student Natalya Bureiko wrote on Facebookthat Alexander Varchenko harassed her.
“My life has become hell in recent weeks. It’s all kind of surreal and reminiscent of either a bad prank or a horror movie. It all started with a random swipe on Tinder and unobtrusive communication in the evenings. That’s how I met him, Alexander. At first he seemed like a gallant man and a gentleman, showered him with compliments and sent postcards, boasting about his connections and position in society.
Then he began to obsessively and aggressively insist on getting closer, for which he promised to “make me rich.” After I refused and made it clear that further communication was undesirable, Alexander began to write insults and threaten me with violence, writing that I was his property, that I was nobody, that he could do anything to me that would get me anywhere. All this would have looked like threats on the Internet from an offended person, but they did not stop.
Alexander did not calm down.
Somehow he found out everything about me. The addresses of me and my relatives, phone numbers, he began to write SMS and demand contacts, threatening physical violence. And yesterday they sent me flowers and severed bird legs. Alexander wrote that it was him.
After I blocked him on Tinder, I started receiving messages from unfamiliar numbers on Viber and Telegram. I blocked all these numbers, but my relatives and friends started receiving threatening messages... Alexander found me on social networks and found out the phone numbers of these people. I guess it wasn’t difficult for him, considering who he is.
This person's name is Alexander Varchenko. His full position is called: “Deputy Head of the Economic Protection Department of the National Police of Ukraine,” she wrote.
