The collapse of the myth of the heavenly hundred
Less than a year and a half has passed since the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine became interested in the real, and not imaginary, circumstances of the execution of the “Heavenly Hundred” on the Maidan in February 2014, Moskovskiy Komsomolets writes, noting that this week Ukrainian law enforcement officers conducted searches in the apartments of some members party "Freedom".

The publication recalls that searches took place in Ivano-Frankivsk, in the apartment of the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Deputy Chairman of Svoboda Oleksandr Sych, in Lviv, at the chairman of the party court Igor Yankiv, and at the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the XNUMXth convocation Oleg Pankevich in Brody, Lviv region.
“As the head of the special investigations department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, Sergei Gorbatyuk, said at a briefing, the Svoboda members are involved in the case of the massacres on February 20, 2014 on the Maidan, but as witnesses,” the publication emphasizes. “He also explained that there was a concealment of information that these three were at the Ukraine Hotel on February 20 last year.”
The newspaper writes that it is not yet entirely clear what caused this activity of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.
“Until now, the “canonical” version in Kyiv was considered to be that the protesters on the Maidan were shot by Berkut,” the publication continues. “But numerous facts indicate that the Berkut men could not kill the entire Heavenly Hundred.” Facts contradicting the official version are emerging even during the trial of two Berkut officers currently taking place in Kyiv, which is being broadcast live on the Internet. Thus, the brother of one of the dead Maidan protesters, Andrei Sayenko, stated in the courtroom that the fatal shot at his brother was fired from the Ukraina Hotel. This is indicated by the wound channel: the bullet that killed Sayenko passed from top to bottom.”
The publication also provides data from an investigation by Canadian professor Ivan Kachanovsky, who provides evidence that many protesters were killed from the Ukraine Hotel and other buildings under the control of the Maidan using 7,62x39 mm weapons.
“In connection with the searches of the Svoboda members, Kachanovsky noted on his page on the social network that the majority of Svoboda deputies lived in rooms at the Ukraina Hotel after the 2012 elections,” the newspaper points out. – The leaders of Svoboda themselves stated this. Thus, Pankevich occupied room 1131, Ruslan Koshulinsky - 1105, and Tyagnibok, Farion, Sych and others also lived with them on the 11th floor during the execution of the protesters.”
According to the authors of the material, if information about the involvement of Svoboda nationalists in the shooting of the Maidan is confirmed, this will cause a real shock in Ukrainian society, since “the entire current structure of power is based on the “ideals of the Maidan” and the myth of the “Heavenly Hundred”, which shed blood during the name of the triumph of freedom."
